Outside is a wraparound deck, propane BBQ, and fire pit to enjoy the sights and sounds of the forest. Pets welcome; Pack 'n Play on hand.

There's plenty of firewood, and fireplace guards are in place for little ones. The second living room has the TV, board games, and books. It tends to become the kids' room, which leaves the fireplace side quiet for everyone else. Mini-split systems handle both A/C and heat, and a second fireplace adds extra warmth in winter. There's a dedicated workspace with an ethernet connection, plus a washer and dryer for longer stays. Kitchen + Dining The kitchen was recently remodeled and is set up for real cooking. It has a full oven and stove, refrigerator and freezer, dishwasher, and microwave. Small appliances include a coffee maker (with coffee), kettle, blender, and toaster. Pots, pans, a baking sheet, dishes, and wine glasses are all here. The dining table is right off the kitchen, so dinner stays in the middle of everything. Camp Nelson keeps early hours and the general store runs small, so stock up in Porterville on the way up. Bedrooms Bedroom 1: Queen bed Bedroom 2: Queen bed Bedroom 3: Two twin beds The Loft: Twin bed in a tucked-away nook above the main level, and every kid's favorite spot in the cabin Bed linens were replaced in 2024. Room-darkening shades and extra pillows and blankets are in the bedrooms. Bathrooms Full bath(Downstairs): Recently remodeled, with a stand-up shower shower Half bath(Upstairs): Toilet and sink, handy when seven people share a morning Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and towels are provided. Bonus Rooms Second living room: TV, board games, and books Loft:Extra bed for kids to sleep and play Outside Space The cabin sits on a full acre of forest, and you'll hear the Tule River from the wraparound deck. There's outdoor seating for morning coffee and the BBQ grill for dinner. The backyard is large and mostly flat so dogs and small kids can roam and play on the tree swing, and the fire pit is ready for s'mores when fire restrictions allow. The river is yours to explore, but the path straight down from the backyard is steep. For an easier walk, head down Coy Flat Drive to the bridge and make your way to the water from there.
Other Details to Note
-No Cell Service on the mountain so please download maps prior to arriving -Camp Nelson is a rural mountain community, so we recommend gassing up and getting all groceries in Porterville prior to arriving -Access to the river from the backyard may be strenuous down a steep slope. We recommend walking down Coy Flat Drive to the bridge which is a much more gradual walk, and then navigating down towards the river. - Trout River Cabin is located in Camp Nelson, near beautiful Sequoia National Forest destinations like Belknap Sequoia Grove, Nelson Trail, Dome Rock, and Trail of 100 Giants. The cabin is not inside Sequoia National Park; the main park entrance is approximately 1.5–2 hours away by car, depending on route and conditions.
