Firewood and fire starter are provided. There's a 65" Roku Smart TV for movie nights, plus board games, books, chess and puzzles for the evenings that don't need a screen. Every room has its own mini-split for heat and A/C, and there are space heaters for cold snaps. The house is about 1,462 square feet across two levels. Wi-Fi covers the house, and there's an ethernet port if you need a wired connection. There's no cell service up here, so turn on Wi-Fi calling when you arrive. Kitchen + Dining The kitchen was redone in 2025 with stainless steel appliances: a full-size fridge and freezer, an electric range and oven, a dishwasher and a microwave. For coffee, there's a coffee maker, a French press and a kettle. You'll also find a toaster, a blender, a baking sheet, the everyday cookware and utensils, and wine glasses. Kids' dinnerware is on hand too. The dining table seats six, and the deck table is there when the weather's good, which up here is most of the year. Porterville is the last big grocery stop on the way up. Gifford's Market in Springville is your final chance before the climb. Bedrooms Upstairs primary: one king and two twins, a private balcony facing Slate Mountain, and its own bathroom. This level has the best morning view in the house. Main-level bedroom 1: one king, mountain views. Main-level bedroom 2: one king, mountain views. All three kings have Parachute linens, and guests mention the beds in review after review. Every bedroom has room-darkening shades and its own mini-split. A pack 'n play is available for little ones and an air mattress for extra sleeping capacity is in the laundry closet. Bathrooms Upstairs (en suite with the primary): walk-in shower with a rain head. Main level: tub/shower combo, shared by the two main-floor bedrooms. Both baths have Public Goods shampoo, conditioner and body wash, plus a hair dryer and fresh towels. Bonus Rooms There's a free washer and dryer in the house for longer stays or muddy trail days. Outside Space This is where River Haus earns its reviews. A multi-level wraparound deck faces Slate Mountain and the forest, with plenty of places to settle in: -the hot tub -an outdoor dining table next to the Weber grill (message us and we'll swap the propane if it's out) -Adirondack chairs lined up for the view -a covered porch swing that the kids tend to claim -life-size Jenga, ring toss and dice The deck fire pit is available whenever Forest Service fire restrictions allow . Upstairs, the primary bedroom has its own balcony. Out back, the property runs down to the Middle Fork of the Tule River. On a quiet morning you can hear it from the deck. The bank is steep and rugged with no trail, so for swimming we'll point you to Lower Coffee Camp or The Stairs down Hwy 190. After dark, the stars come out in force. During the day, watch for mule deer, hawks, woodpeckers and hummingbirds.
Other Details to Note
-No Cell Service in this area, so please download offline maps before traveling to the cabin. Wi-Fi calling can be enabled once you arrive. -The cabin is located 2 hours from Sequoia National Park, but being located in Sequoia National Forest there are lots of similar attractions and activities that are much closer and less crowded! -Being in a rural area it is typical to come across wildlife such as deer, squirrels, birds, insects, ants, bees, etc. Please do not feed wildlife and do not leave food or trash outside. -No outdoor fires and no smoking of any kind is allowed on the property. -Our neighbors do have dogs and they do wander on the property from time to time. They are friendly! -The driveway entrance is steep and some guests have reported issues getting up the driveway without 4 wheel drive and all terrain tires. We recommend guests park at the top of the driveway unless they have the 4wd vehicle.
